Pledge for the Couple :: تعهد للعروسين

We pledge before God, the Lord of lords and Shepherd of shepherds, and before His angels and saints, and before the Church fathers and all those who are present, to live a Christian marital life according to Christ’s Gospel; and for each of us to care for the other’s salvation; and for our home to be a house of prayer, a house of purity, and a house of blessing, abiding by the saying of the Holy Bible, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15).

We also pledge to be steadfast in the Orthodox faith to the last breath; and to respect the canons of the holy Church; and to keep her traditions, rites, and teachings.

Moreover, we pledge to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of achieving the other’s happiness; and to deal with each other in love, tolerance, trust, honesty, and long-suffering; and to endure each other’s weaknesses; and to wisely forsake this world’s corruption.

We pledge that the materialistic will not be a cause of difference between us in any way, and we will be satisfied and content with what we have; and to deal with each other’s family in wisdom and love.

We also pledge to raise our children in a Christian manner, and to be role models for them through good deeds, so that we may all become holy and blameless before God in love.
