  • Yes it is a sin. Gender is a fact of life. The parents of a child do not get to choose the gender, despite possible ways we may get to now. That is a God-given aspect and that is why it's a fact of life. You change that, you are then changing a fact…
  • @Zoxsasi, I will take on defending the LA diocese.  1st - The recordings referenced are not exactly there for teaching. We know that from the fact that not all hymns of the season were recorded, plus some tracks were recorded in alternating betweet …
  • hmmmm...NJ has around 30 church.....a couple are mega-church with over 1K families to serve.  I am just gonna leave this out there...
  • Take her to abouna
  • I didn't advice anything...i am asking about the state of the guy.... I agree with you to the first part. But the second part is all questions too personal that i would say take it to PM.
  • Is he Coptic Orthodox or will he need to convert?
  • Many priests do things that are beneficial and are amazing in their own churches....and most of those are hidden, not too many know about them.
  • @Zoxsasi...he doesn't do this every single liturgy. It was done specially that day and many priests do that every once in a while, if not once a year....mainly for kids and youth.
  • @Zoxsasi....wow habibi...can you be any more condescending?! What makes you think you are the only one that can get to a professional?!
  • Who said I haven't asked iconographers?! Due to the fact that most icons are written with egg tempera, the most you can do is dust or use something dry to clean.
  • It's not just about the icons, but it's also about the fact that they are consecrated.
  • Hi, So, if the icons are consecrated, you can't really "clean" them with anything liquid. The most you can do is probably use dry paper towel.
  • So when it comes to marriage laws, in the USA, it kinda depends on the state. That being said, when you get married in a civil manner, you don't "leave the church." Civil laws do not govern the Church. Marriage in the Orthodox Christian understandin…

  • Hello Andrew, I would say, welcome to the forum, but it looks like you have been here for a while.  I had to remove the link and I will close this discussion. While I do believe that the intention is good, and I do agree that, as Copts, me and you c…
  • I don't think I have seen a manuscript that have an Arabic translation for Agios eisteen. Only M Farag book had a translation for it, and not really the most studied text. That being said, George Ghaly did a nice study about it and it was published,…
  • Yes, the wedding has to be in a Coptic Orthodox Church. That being said, there might be one there or you probably can have a priest, if he is willing, to setup an altar in wherever you'll have the wedding and that makes the area a Coptic Church.  Kn…
  • Some of the psalms set for pascha hours throughout holy week are some times not just one with stikhons, but other may have 2 extra stikhons or 2 fully separate psalms with different number of stikhons. The chanter has the choice to which ones to say…
  • So, I haven't seen an actual Coptic text for it, but i only have the transliterated coptic text in Abouna Shenouda OB, and english and arabic translation. In this case, i know why the transliteration more important that the coptic text since the mai…
  • Why are you confusing yourself so much?! You answered your own question many times over what we said. Then just accept it
  • That's only acceptable if both are already married and not Christian. If one wants to then become a Christian, that's kind of allowed on the hope that his or her righteousness as a Christian would be an example for the other spouse to became one too…
  • I think you are misunderstanding the reasoning those that are against changing are giving. It's not about the changing the faith. It's about the reasons for the change. I can't mention everything again, so i would recommend gaining some patience and…
  • Yes, the baptism is the key to all the sacraments, but it's not the only one. Question should be, why does the Church require both couples to be Christians in the Orthodox Church (OO, or EO  separately) to then be married? I think that question's an…
  • It's Fr Michael Sorial. He said it in a response to a topic (that got heated) on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=179720853219449&set=a.112696906588511&type=3): Abouna Michael For those who argue that aligning calendars will…
  • Lol. Well let's be honest, the prayer has been developed in the lat 150 years max. It's so short that we just say, it's 3 Amens and then khen efran
  • It actually wasn't even me who said it before. A prominent English speaking and young priest from NJ flat out said it on FB a couple of weeks ago when this Anba Serapion made his decision. I was more concerned about the rites of course, thats my spe…
  • @mrcreed...I hope all is well, The thing is though, anyone who thinks that unifying the dates of feasts would bring on unity in faith in general is greatly mistaken. It would only be a very superficial move to cover all the disagreement in faith. An…
  • You don't need to do an engagement in a church. You just need a canonical Coptic priest to do so. Doing it "during" the raising of incense or liturgy is probably weird. I would say after or before is an ok idea. Mine was done when i still had my ton…
  • There are multiple types of prostrations. The one that is not allowed on saturday and sunday are the ones of repentance. you can always align that with days of fasting and none-fasting. this DOESN'T mean not to prostrate to the bishop or in front of…
  • Yes. I am ok with it, but for other people, yes. 45 mins, one hour max please.
