i was in a church i attended previously when we got relics from saint john the evangelist (the beloved).
it was really lovely, we had vespers then tamgeed (celebration of the saint) then putting spices and oil around the box and giving it a new cove…
a wise post again, +iloveJesus.
i especially love baba athanasius saying 'and i am against the world!'
just be me, i hope u were able to discuss yr problem with a kind priest, may God give u wisdom and strength.
great responses.
yes, just keep trying and keep praying. the more u pray the more u will love God, be kind to people etc. etc.
i know from my own life it can be hard to find the time.
but that is not a good excuse (at least not for my priest!)
;)

i think it is important to tell your priest and your doctor.
sure, don't tell your cousin, your cousin's friend, your friend's cousin etc. etc.
but it's only when discussing with someone outside the problem that u can get perspective on the problem …
i see 2 options:
1. look for another orthodox church (greek, indian, ethiopian etc. etc.) some of them we are already in communion with, and most of the others will allow Holy Communion for a 'mixed' (oriental and eastern) orthodox couple.
2. encou…
most people who go to this kind of thing don't want to be filmed!
but u will find further info here, and u can do a doumentary of u reading tasbeha.org and getting the information if u like...
;)
it's a regional event and not for raising money.
people meet up and pray and study and because we are in the oriental orthodox churches, we can also have events where we take communion together.
the only place in the uk where we have enough churches…
we (ya'ani my church) have 'the story of the copts' in one volume. it is quite fat, so maybe it used to be 2 volumes,

what imikhail is suggesting is called by english speaking theologians the 'homogenous unit principle'.
if u want a debate about this, i can send a personal message to another forum member who has written about this and is quite knowledgeable.
but t…
i'm breaking mine after church (as God wills) in the very early hours of 7th.
but i suppose it will have to be a short, quick breakfast in order to fast again for liturgy on 8th!
maybe not a bad thing...
;)
if u enjoy fasting, then u have to fight the temptations of pride and thinking u r more spiritual than u are.
i suppose this would be harder than giving up food!
actually some friends of mine who are not so strict with fasting are very kind and hum…
hey, marmar, don't feel to bad. it's probably the psychology lectures messing with your head.
pray from the agpeya every day and yr head will feel better.
to generalise; protestants use the cross without the crucifix coz they focus on the resurrect…
tasbeha in english is pretty cool.
also look for some english translations of communion songs (not the ones u always use, this will be 'boring').
my favourites are 'from every nation' (also known as 'from all nations') and 'very early sunday morning…
u can't cook?
do u have auntie or someone u can ask to teach u?
i don't mean doing mahshi or something really hard but the things in my fasting recipies above are easy.
i meant cook an e** for yr dad, not for u!
i think u can 'disobey' him to a cert…
marmar,
if they say they want to do it but it never happens, it means they like the idea of doing it but don't really want to make the effort.
it might mean they can't really be bothered enough.
and that is confusing coz their actions say one thing…
wow, i think u should fast. u r old enough now.
maybe u could offer to cook for yr dad sometimes.
do some foul meddames (or get it from a tin like i do) and some stir-fry veg and a microwave potato or some bread to go with it, then fry an egg (i'm s…
sounds really tough.
like u r not really being acknowledged as someone with preferences and opinions.
this is especially hard when u r young and finding that u have separate opinions from yr relatives.
it is a normal phase u r going through, and wit…
i am sorry to say she had her heart broken by someone in a different country far away.
i understand socialising can be horrible sometimes.
maybe u can do some things in the church by yourself? like vacuum the carpet or tidy up after sunday school. u…
here are 2 other Bible references;
1. 'mercy triumphs over judgement' (james 2:13)
2. when i was protestant, one of my favourite songs was this:
Lord I've heard of your fame
And I stand in awe
Of your deeds, O Lord.
Renew, renew them in our day.

the two versions are just because 2 people have translated it separately into english.
we sang it in arabic today in church, it's lovely in arabic as well. the arabic chorus is more beautiful, saying 'Yesoue' habeeb qalbee' (Jesus, the love of my he…
my close friend has had her heart terribly broken MORE THAN ONCE by a 'Christian' dating site.

ok, elsi70x7,
i want to point out that i suggested u become a good wife as a general rule, a general suggestion.
i did not want to say that u were not a good and kind person.
in fact, i have been very impressed by yr posts.
what i was trying to say …
elsi (may i shorten yr name?),
to find a good husband, u need to be a good wife.
in other words, work hard on yr character and spiritual life, so that u will benefit a 'good' husband if u find one or be able to love and accept a 'bad' husband becau…
wow, what a lot of great posts!
may God give u wisdom as u read all this and then make the time to go and confess.
remember - God loves u more than u do.
:)
